Near Pima/101 (17465 N 93rd Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85255), REI will rent people a hardtail bike (a bike with front suspension, but not rear) for $50 per individual for a four (4) hour period, helmet included.

Near Pima/Thompson Peak (20875 N Pima Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85255) Airpark Bike Co. rents a higher-end full-suspension model for $75 for (4) hours. Jared Wilcox, the shop owner is giving us a 20% break and will provide us with a discount code on other items about a month before the ride date, just in case anyone needs gloves, glasses, a hydration pack, etc.
Note: This event is not sponsored by Chaparral High School or the Chaparral ’83 Reunion Committee. This is just a fun get-together, therefore please ride/hike at your own risk. Thank you!
If you are going on the ride, here is a list of mandatory and optional items you will need to provide in order to ride safely:
Mandatory Items:
• Bike, either yours or rented
• A properly fitting helmet (if renting from REI, this is included)
• Closed-toe flat-soled athletic shoes (Vans work great if you don’t have any specific “riding” shoes)
• Eye protection (glasses or sunglasses)
• Hydration pack or water bottle for fluid
• Signed release form
• The name and phone number of the person to contact in case of a medical emergency
• Provide any other information of possible medical conditions that might affect you on this ride.
Recommended:
• Padded bike shorts or athletic clothing (yoga tights or comfortable sports shorts & top)
• Knee and or elbow pads
• Sunscreen with a high SPF
• Gloves (can be golf or tight-fitting utility gloves or even gardening gloves)
• Energy bar or snack and/or energy drink
• Spare tube in the tire size that fits your bike.
